Coach Yourself
How many times haven’t I used that last one with my clients. We all get stuck in our minds every so often and life is just not happening there. On the contrary. Life is everywhere but in your mind. We humans like to tell stories (see earlier books) and sometimes we get lost in them. This is a call for doing stuff. Nothing is perfect, nothing will ever be. No mood or mindset will be right, there is no more information that will help you further, there is only life.
And as a dear, dear friend (and collegue) told me: “clarity is in the action”. You can’t get clarity in your mind or brain, the only way to “see” the way is to get moving. It doesn’t matter in what direction you are moving, as long as you are moving. Or as President Roosevelt said: “The best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst you can do is nothing at all”.
What is the impact on leadership?
Well, remember: leaders go first. When leaders don’t get into action, there simply isn’t leadership active. Once leaders start pointing the conversation and get it moving, tribes will become more cohesive and start moving together. Leaders mobilise and ignite. We, leaders, make things happen. As a leader, we are not about being right, leaders are about creating movement. Dancing in and with life. Showing the way for others to step into and follow.
